What causes stretch marks?

A stretch mark is a type of scar that develops when our skin quickly stretches or shrinks, like in pregnancy or teenage growth spurts. The quick changes result in thinner, more fragile skin and ruptured collagen and elastin. As your skin heals, stretch marks may appear.

Stretch mark prevention is key

To keep your skin soft and supple and avoid the possibility of stretch marks, it’s important to:

  • Begin using the product early on (from the first trimester in pregnancy)
  • Thoroughly massage the product into your skin as part of your daily routine.
  • Apply consistently for a sustained period of time. 

Treating existing stretch marks

There’s no miracle cure for existing stretch marks…

But we do know that using nourishing products that intensely hydrate your skin and support your barrier function can soften your stretch marks and may make them less noticeable.
